You illustrate how telecoms is going to the dogs! Transmission being the most crude example.

I am a transmission true blood. Transmission was given free of charge to sell telephone switch. Like a cost of doing business.

Vendors decided to make as cheap as possible possibly by some other people. Remember when Siemens bought Plessey (GPT I think was the name)to develop its first SDH?

The implication is huge: No one wanted anything to do with a product that was given as a sweetener to get a deal. The bright people didn't want to be involved with it since it provided no career advancement. This is important to keep in mind when trying to understand how/why a product sector or platform succeeds. A sector is left in the hands of the less bright and they are powerless to raise their case's profile.

Siemens getting out of telecoms speaks a lot about the status of this business. It is not the consolidation of the 80's when Philips, AEG, Standar Elektrik Lorenz (SEL), TRT disappeared by merging with others.

We are talking about a sector going to the dogs
