I think you will find the Japanese will also award IMS contracts to a RAN vendor, although they may feel they can deliver in-house what IMS offers and bypass it completely. I am referring to the incumbents, 3 wireless and one wireline.

I will maintain we have a huge lead until someone else delivers a commercial solution. By that time I would hope we have moved ahead of the game yet again. I consider an effort like what VZW is asking the vendors to do plays precisely to Sonus' strength, as their proven software solution should be much more robust and capable of moving in a different direction.
