Crimson > with the prolongation of the war, Israel’s hopes have been frustrated. Facing a situation it had not predicted, Israel is about to become the main loser of the war.

It may not win as much as hoped but I cannot see Israel "losing" until the powers that be accept the reality that Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian land -- and this will not happen while the US dominates world opinion, as it does. It is my view however, that Israel, by giving back the occupied land and East Jerusalem in a move towards securing peace, will actually be a winner but that idea is so far removed from the minds of most Israelis/Zionists as to be regarded as preposterous.

As regards Lebanon, I anticipate that the onslaught will be stalemated, there will eventually be some kind of ceasefire, the UN will propose a resolution which the US will veto, and Syria and Iran will be blamed for the debacle. Nothing will be achieved except the unnecessary deaths of many innocents and wanton destruction -- indeed, an indictment against humanity itself.
