Despite condemnations over the Qana attack, Olmert also told visiting US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that Israel needs 10 to 14 days more for its offensive in Lebanon, according to an Israeli government official.

"This period of time is what we need to achieve the goals of the operation," the official quoted Olmert as telling Rice.

Olmert told her that Israel wanted a multinational force of at least 10,000 troops to be deployed in Lebanon.

"Israel wishes to see a multinational force composed of combatant units with real power to intervene," the official quoted Olmert as telling Rice.

I think Israel grew beyond America's control. Same thing happened in Iraq with Saddam. The US could not control him.
