Considering your position, I would try to apply it to post-war Germany... In 1946, was Germany better off than the Germany of 1938? I cannot and will not judge good and evil of the parties involved, based upon the number of casualties during a conflict. Egypt and Jordan made peace with Israel. Yes, thanks to Jimmy Carter. If the enemies of Israel would get off their religious fanatic mentality, many wouldn't be bankrupt with their people wondering where their next meal is coming from and if they will be around to eat it. Iran was making great progress until the Hitler wannabe felt getting his own nuclear weapons was his highest priority.
