OK, you didn't really mean appeasement. Appeasement in this context is about voluntary concessions by the victim to buy off the aggressor. Which IMO is a terrible idea because it rewards undesirable behavior.

1. You do whatever is needed to stop the killing.

2. You do whatever it takes so that the killing does not start up again.

3. You do whatever it takes to do the right thing.

4. To argue about the size, shape, and who sits where at the table while innocent people are getting killed is stupid.

There is nothing wrong with rewarding killers for stopping the killing of innocent people.

At this point everything has gone to hell.

There are no good killing and no bad killing.

It is all bad.

If the good people are killing more innocent people than the bad people, what difference does that make.

All the righteous killing have not stopped the killing of innocent people.

Appeasing righteous killing is just as wrong as appeasing any other kind of killing.

It is time to try something different.
