Hi Tom,
I have not looked here for quite a while myself but needed to post another thread and found your response today...interesting timing for us both.
The Koran says that Jews are the People of the Book, and should be revered.
Not a whole lot of revering happening in the ME or many other locals in the world.
The UN representative for Israel is a gentleman and spoke eloquently when he addressed the Lebanese representative and said, paraphrased from memory today, '...in your heart, if you could, you would be sitting next to me in support of what we are trying to do in your country by freeing it from the dark influence of Hezbollah...we are not attacking innocent civilians, it is not our policy, we are trying to root out those who have attacked us and will not listen to reason...and we are sure that unspoken most of those in the know in most all democracies in the world support us as well...'
It was not 'my' mis-quote but a quote from the source I gave.
Perhaps the most concise summary of what is going on today in the ME regarding politics and religion I heard was the following...
'If the Muslims were to lay down all their arms and weapons today, there would be peace in the mideast tomorrow.
If all Jews were to lay down all of their arms and weapons today, Israel would be annihilated tomorrow.'
Basically my original point.
May we all be wise enough...
Regards
