we shouldn't have bombed Afgan? run the taliban out? rather we should have used our political avenues and built up our own security.. like star wars, airport , rail, ports etc to protect from another crisis. i think to contain our security by withdrawal is next to impossible in a country our size.

we have nato in afgan, afgan are against taliban and if we are not there what would the country be like today. how many more younger taliban would have been trained to fight for Al Q. it looks like we are losing in Africa, Al Q. appears to have a strong foothole in Somalia.

What do you see happening that contains actual security threats we face? how does that happen? I guess that is my original question if war is not the answer , and i doubt it is the answer better we get world opinion to take action. I expect most of united nations , would never accept u.s. but you spent your time in the organization . how do we gain popularity with these radical nations? What light bulb goes one in eu or china or russia that Iran with nukes could be dangerous to them all? do we wait for one or more nukes to go off before our popularity builds. I expect the eu and others will quickly look to the united states for assistance if under fire once again.

i envision Iran wins lebanon if cease fire and expands to Jordan, Egypt, Saudi perhaps?

really appreciate your input from your experiences. What is the thought in state department. There must be projections of where they believe countries will be in a decade based on various what if situations.
