Hayek, Friedman, Buckley --- YES.

Theocracy, Bigotry, (or that blonde attention-craving doberman with the penchant for tissue paper lies) --- NO.

Totally agree...I think the whole concept of traditional American conservtive thought has been so co-opted by the "new conservatives" that a stable cleaning will be required to get the name back.

Where is the commitment to small government, balanced budgets, protection of the individual's rights, etc. etc.? All lost in the name of expediecy and necessity?

Buckley still makes a lot of sense and he can remember when conservtive thought was more than screaming about liberal "traitors", as exemplified by that blonde doberman publicity hound you mentioned.
