Possible but unnecessary. Al Qaeda isn't anywhere on a par with the Wehrmacht, the Japanese military, nor are we in a world war.
Most of the Arabic world is happy to trade with us and the rest of the Western world, not to mention the Chinese, the Japanese, and so on.
The Pax Americana allows this to happen more-or-less freely.
