It seems to me that Israel is going to have its hands tied with respect to H. The Qana incident, for all the BS being bandied about, was a terrible global PR fiasco.

Olmert has completely screwed this thing up by relying on air. After bombing Lebanon's infrastructure in order to eliminate resupply lines to H., the military should have been allowed to go in on the ground so as to root out H. and destroy its human and military assets.

A huge mistake for Israel not to have gone into Lebanon on the ground [and extremely and uncharacteristically stupid to publicly say it would not do so] while the US was doing what it could to give it the time necessary to perform the required operation.

As a result, the political and diplomatic landscape has been changed, especially in view of Qana, and not in Israel's favor.

I will never understand why Olmert pulled his punches. Failing to go in on the ground has vastly complicated things.
