Very few radical movements anywhere in the world have been wiped out in the last 50-60 years. As I said to someone the other day, the usual script is a fight to a draw then a political settlement that draws in the radical movement and makes them a player in democratic governance.

The days of radicals overrunning whole countries are largely over, too, except for weird dumps like Somalia.

I stay away from the whole Arab-Israeli thing since I know it never changes.
