French ban skimpy beachwear

PARIS: Thongs are a little too hot for some Parisians. Paris officials are banning thong bikinis and topless sunbathing at the sand-in-the-city event known as Paris Beaches.

The newspaper Le Parisien reports violators could be fined about $50.

The skimpy swimwear is common on France's Mediterranean and Atlantic shores. But officials in Paris are worried that indecent attire might "provoke temptations and dangerous behavior."
