I personally find it hard to believe that Broadcom has blocking control over "multimedia technology". My guess is that if QCOM did infringe on BRCM technology the infringement was inadvertant, and Qualcomm will be able to find alternate solutions if necessary.

I really dont think that Broadcom's patents concern "multimedia technology". My understanding of these two patents is that the '983 patent covers multimode chipsets and the '311 patent covers sleep states in wireless chipsets(specifically, all 1xEV-DO chipsets).

Here is the initial ruling by the investigative staff. If the judge were to come down with a similar ruling, every Qualcomm baseband except the MSM6100, MSM6150, and MSM6000 would be found to be infringing.
