The far right are to blame for the current situation. The far left is not in power, is a small minority and have had almost no influence over what our government has done (or not done) in many years. You certainly can't call the Clintons the far left. They go out of their way to act as moderates.

Besides, what role has the far left played in us getting targeted by terrorists? If you study Bin Laden, you'll find the reason he decided to make the US his enemy is that we left military bases in Saudi Arabia after the Gulf War. Bush's father did that. No one on the far left did. And the far left would love it if we got off Arab oil (and oil) altogether, so we wouldn't need to fight wars over there or tussle with terrorists.

As for vigilance, Clinton's people stopped the big LAX Al Qaida attack in 1999. They weren't perfect, but they were very much on the ball in the late 90's. Bush disbanded all Clinton's counter-terrorist operations against Saudis and Al Qiada when he came into power and didn't replace them until after it was too late. 9-11 happened on his watch because he ignored the warnings.
