The latest word is that the Israeli gov. is going to allow an occupation of Lebanon to the extent of a depth of 1 mile. This is clearly not going to stop anything. Having just finished a fascinating book on the subject of the German blitzkrieg in May-June 1940 that crushed Belgium threw Britain off the continent, and forced France to ask for terms, it comes to me that the correct term for what is going on in south Lebanon right now is "phony war".
