CB&I to Provide Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication and Construction for Golden Pass LNG

THE WOODLANDS, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2006--CB&I (NYSE:CBI) has been awarded a contract by Golden Pass LNG Terminal LLC for the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal located near Sabine Pass, Texas. The award is valued in excess of US$1 billion.

CB&I has complete responsibility for the terminal, which will have an import capacity to process 15.6 million tons per year (MTA) of LNG, which is equivalent to approximately 2 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas. The project includes two ship unloading berths; five full-containment LNG storage tanks, each with a capacity of 155,000 cubic meters; a regasification and sendout system; and related ancillary buildings and systems. Initial engineering, procurement and site preparation activities are under way. Terminal start-up is planned for 2009. At its peak, the project is expected to create over 1,000 construction jobs in Southeast Texas.

"We are pleased to have been chosen for this landmark project," said Philip K. Asherman, CB&I's President and CEO. "The Golden Pass award builds on our decades of proven worldwide experience in the LNG industry. And it also marks an important milestone in our longstanding relationships with Qatar Petroleum, Exxon Mobil Corporation and ConocoPhillips Company, as we work together to safely construct the Golden Pass LNG terminal to help meet growing U.S. energy demand."
