He has just gone from expecting a win on the part of the congressional Dems in the fall elections to seeing it as a "rout."

I see the chances of that as insignificant, but then that might have something to do with different definitions of how big of loss would be a rout. Even a win is not clearly defined. It could mean picking up seats, it could mean picking up both houses, or it could mean picking up both.
