Ashley,
Your unfailing kindness and thoughtfulness is a rare gem on these boards, these days when there is so much reckless carnage in our midst. Indeed, I am a northeasterner, now sweltering in this unnatural, uncommon heat with my geographic brethren. The film that you describe is just the sort of barrier, not too displeasing to the esthetic sense, but with degrees of coefficiency that are needed, now, to shield the heat, and later, to prevent the warmth from escaping into the bare winter woods.
I did google this, and may have found a purveyor of this kind of stuff in Ft. Collins, CO, under the name Thermal Shield, I think. The proprietor is Rick Romano, and I have e-mailed a request for additional data than appears on the relatively robust web site. Of course, the proof is in the pudding. I don't know that the wife will take kindly to the encumbrances in and around the mullions.
I hope you and your lives are all very well indeed.
