Well, I understand what your POV is, but I can't agree. We have controls that limit exposure-- no smoking sections, generally effective ventilation (unlike Europe). What exposure there is is not great. Annoying, yes, but I would rather be annoyed than have government control. If enough people find a restaurant unpleasantly smokey, they won't frequent it. Smoking sections have gotten smaller and smaller. As long as I am not forced into prolonged exposure, I can live (literally and figuratively) with it.
Perfume actually sets me off worse than smoke. But I just go quickly through those sections of the stores.
