I think I covered that in the next paragraph. They are far beyond the response I thought they were going to give. And they have lost all the support that they had in the beginning, sans the US. There were many Arab countries who were blaming Hezbollah for the mess, but that has changed.

You focus on the 2 soldiers, they were just the straw that broke the camel's back. There has been a constant series of incidents along the border ever since Israel pulled out of Lebanon. Hezbollah believes that they were responsible for driving Israel out of Lebanon. So, secure in that belief, they have been plinking away at Israel ever since. Israel's hand haven't been clean either, they regard the border as merely a suggestion. Bottom line, things have been tense for a while and Hezbollah has been jumping on the springs of the mousetrap.
