i'm not sure what you mean by "bootstrapping"

but i was always advised from the time i purchased my first property to generally avoid the most expensive house in a neighborhood and under no circumstances, "over-improve"

you do indeed live in an unusual neighborhood, and while i find the variety and mix of architecture and lot size appealing, it does seem to be the trend that more and more people are looking for conformity in the newer developments
