It's the middle of winter here, so places that get snow have got snow. That doesn't apply to the north, where I live. The winter is very mild up here, though the rain can become a bit tedious.

I like to make a clear distinction between capitalism and fascism - words have meanings, and it's useful to stick to them. The central theme of fascism is the pre-eminence of the state over the individual (look at the origin of the term). Capitalism and free enterprise are closely related, and the ideas of private ownership and individual freedom are also linked.

I do see the encroachment of fascist ideology in the US - but also in Russia, where the state tends to own things, and in Iran, where I don't think capitalism is very developed. The tendency for monopolies to become established does need to be checked, and the big risk is that the regulatory checks can be defeated by an unholy alliance between big business and opportunistic politicians. I guess that's what you're talking about.
