Re: "I don't want Big Brother looking over my shoulder either, but don't condone tax payers money being wasted on miscreants."

Exactly.

I agree.

(Don't you SEE though that the more you try to REGULATE individual behaviors through government actions --- saying 'this' is prohibited, and 'this' is bad for you so we are not going to allow it either --- the larger a staff of bureaucrats and cops and regulators and PR flacks you are going to need to try to enforce those rules. And the more power you are granting the government, and the more funds you are sending it's way to further that 'mission' of telling you fellow citizens how they are allowed to live.)

So, why would you avert your eyes and allow the taxpayer's money to be wasted on growing and supporting an ever-larger bureaucracy?

If someone wants to be Puritanical in their personal life (to choose just one possible example) that's all fine and well: more power to 'em.

But when they propose using the power of the GOVERNMENT to enforce their idea of what mandates are good for their fellow citizens... they have crossed into being *enablers* of Big Brother... and not proponents of liberty.
