Check out SEG Software. This is currently a $200 million/year biz with two components: information management and backup software. Backup software has something like 42% of the NT market which is expected to grow at something like 35% for the next five years. SEG software is going to continue to be part of every copy of NT 5.0 so SEG should increase its market share. It is also a perfect complement to its line of low-end and mid-range tape drives. Lastly, SEG also has a stake in Dragon Software, one of the 2 dominant players (IBM being the other) in speech recognition software. Because the disk drive biz generates most of the revenues, SEG will rise and fall on the basis of how well or how badly the drive biz is doing. Once they get their act together, however, it will only be a matter of time before SEG reclaims the premium multiple in its category. Gus
