The NSDAP name, in full, did indeed include the words "Socialist" and "Workers". No doubt that got a few extra votes in the beginning.
Do not believe everything politicians tell you, especially Nazis. Instead check their history, the lists of whom they imprisoned, who opposed them in the old Reichstag, and so on.
