That IS interesting. The other day when I shorted SPY, the Quick and Reilly broker kept me on a line a few minutes, saying "Let me see if I can borrow these." I thought he just was not familiar with the stock. He did get the position for me.

It could be fun if a real squeeze develops--I mean, what's to keep SPY from leading the market down--what happens if there is a big sell overhang? I guess smart traders could do fancy things with options and even personal stock baskets. Buy SPY cheap and simultaneously short a closed-end fund, it that is available.

Oh pooh--I am sure someone has this all figured out long in advance and is making money off it.
