It seems obvious to me now that the lebanese govt and hizbulla have bee/are in cahoots. Sort of benign neglect in action re: how lebanon viewed hizbolla. I am not sure the UN will pass the US/France compromise and I am thinking this war is likely to continue for months. The folks who will suffer most are ordinary lebanese citizens. Perhaps at some point, someone on that side will recognize that the hizbulla started this and is the cause for their nations misery. Perhaps hizbolla will be weakened enough to allow room for other forces to take over. I am not optimistic about this per US experience in Iraq. Israel has no choice but to continue. They have close to 100 dead now and that number will rise but even 500 dead is a small price to pay for permanently removing this threat to their existance.
