Bud Moore, the object of my poem Moon Saddle Cabin, is donating a conservation easement on his property in the Swan Valley. He wants to provide a migration corridor for grizzlies so they can move between the Bob Marshall wilderness area and the Mission Mountain wilderness, which are separated by the Swan Valley. He's the first small land owner to do so. He hopes others do the same. Larger land owners are cooperating, but their easements are not binding.

A conservation easement casts in stone a management policy that prevents subdivision (or whatever). I think it's a great idea.

Otherwise, one day we will all be California Girls.
