If it's a serious issue of conscience, and Lieberman feels inclined to support Bush's program to that extent, he should consider switching parties like Phil Gramm and others did back in the 1980's. That is an exercise in showing the courage of one's convictions. A week or two ago I asked someone for examples of Republicans who defied their party on a key issue and still had the party's support and the support of the voters. Still waiting for an example.
