A neoconservative organization supporting greater American militarization, challenging hostile government...
when you google pnac, the above is (complete with ellipsis, which as i'm sure you know as a writer, in this context tells the reader there is more and that "more" has been omitted) is the first on the list of 'results' that you see
the word "neoconservative" literally jumped off the screen to me, as it was under the link to
newamericancentury.org
i thought, wow, amazing, very surprised that pnac would characterize themselves as "neoconservative" understanding that the term is regularly used in the press as pejorative
when you click on the welcome page you certainly don't see the word "neoconservative" (or militarization for the matter, which imo, has over time become another term with baggage...the welcome page itself uses "military strength")
i did a site specific search while there for "neocon" "neoconservatism" and "militarization" and found nothing ....(i will point out that the search function may not be working so the terms may be buried deeper in the website, but i seriously doubt it)
so my point is....SOMEBODY...inserted the term "neoconservative" and "militarize"....those words are not be found on pnac page that is linked
considering the nearly ubiquitous nature of google, perhaps it doesn't make your blood run cold, as you say "different things concern different people" (which could explain why you did not even notice, meaning the google "lead" supports your particular bias) but indeed, for myself, it does raise a distinct chill in my circulatory system
is googlespeak the next newspeak?
whether or not you agree or disagree with pnac (i was unaware of the organization, hence my googling the acronym) it would seem to me that anyone using a search engine believing the 'results' are neutral (and not reflecting the political leanings of it's developers, page and brin )and seeing this is clearly not the case, should give knowledge seekers pause
"Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. :
above, from their website....
now one has to wonder though, useful to whom
now that it is almost universally accessible (we won't go into the google/china propaganda collaboration here), the deliberate, though nuanced, slanting of information gathering is chilling indeed.
<edit>
just for grins, i googled "move on" and "peta", no such editoralizing lead on either
