It was just about my first off-base liberty after boot camp. Four of us rode the bus from Camp Pendleton into San Diego with the express purpose of getting tattooed. No alcohol was involved as we were all 17 or 18 years old and hadn't learned how to get a fake ID (that took a few more months). Two got tattooed, two didn't. At that time, maybe still, it was a court martial offense if a tattoo got infected and required treatment at sick bay. A motor home from Ebay? Gosh, they really do sell everything I guess. My brother in FL has a 36 footer and they go someplace at least once a month. I envy them (and you). They're coming here for the month of September in it. They tow a small pickup all the time and get about 6 MPG.
