"entering an era of secular inflation" is the weak link. The argument for Treasury securities is based on a credit contraction (i.e. deflationary) scenario.

And when Hussman says "Barring a credit crisis that would actually provoke investors to seek Treasury securities as safe havens" he acknowledges that it is possible. It could start from home owners and spread to banks. Or it could come from hedge funds failing to outperform high interest rates and exposed to endgame outflows. Or it could simply be a meltdown at the unregulated credit derivatives market (my favorite proven scam). Or it could be pension statement reform.

Notice how I made 4 (!) viable options and did not even mention your odd crash at the local stock market?
