Let me correct myself, it wasn't actually the wooden shoes -

"While sabot can mean a wooden shoe, it can also mean a metal shoe or clamp for holding a piece of metal in place (it can also mean a type of anti-tank ammunition, but that's another story). The second sense is what sabotage is derived from.

Specifically, sabotage comes from the practice by striking French railway workers of cutting the sabot that held railroad tracks in place. The word appears in English in 1910 and early use specifically refers to the French railroad strikers."

Their lives were continuously governed by some callous industrialist constantly trying to make a larger fortune, in order to build an ever larger, more ostentatious estate.

The "callous indurstialists" may have been self-interested but for the most part their self-interested actions mace the world a better place.

Statists are also often self-intested and they have the power of the government behind them. Any great amount of socialism is likely to be harmful.

some restrictions on capitalists are necessary

Some restrictions on everyone are necessary. Most particuarly things like outlawing fraud and regulating the use of force. Also a degree of environmental protection. You can't have "capitalists" killing thousands with massive toxic chemical dumps or enslaving people or committing fraud. But for the most part these business interests only become a severe problem when they can manipulate the power of the government to support their desires for wealth and power.
