The sentiment is clear enough.
What's not is a strategy to achieve success --- the word 'success' which I define as achieving America's LONG-TERM goals and asperations.
We still have a very favorable set of advantages, vs. our opponents. I would not trade the cards we have in our hands for those held by the 'other side'. But tactics that, in effect, 'shoot ourselves in the foot', and fall into traps deliberately set by the enemies of Western-style liberties, freedoms, and Democratic principles, are *not* viable options... although they may temporarily make us 'feel good', in the long-run they produce the very defeat that our enemies wish upon us but haven't the strength on their own to produce.
(IMO, what is needed is realism, brains, guile, and steadfastness in support of what has always made America desirable: individual liberties and free market Capitalism.... Pretty much the exact opposite of what 'stay the course' seems to mean in the context of Iraq's misbegotten occupation.) |
