Battleships had their day as well, but finally enough people realized they were just massive, expensive targets for air power. Perhaps it's time for the tank to join the battleship? But the big boys loved both toys, and won't give them up easily. Look how long it took to get rid or our battleships, and even today there are some that want to bring them back.

It seems to me that it should be fairly technically easy to design a "fail-safe" targeting system for shoulder fired missiles that would just home in on the nearest largest mass of ferrous metal if nothing were hit. Then, they might not kill the tank, but they'd hardly EVER miss the tank.
