Gillespie, Enron and the Bush-Cheney GOP were all part of the same dishonest PAC funded by Enron which Gillespie ran. It spent at least 7 million dollars on outrageously dishonest TV ads meant to blame the phony energy crisis on democrats, especially Grey Davis. At the time, Davis was considered a real threat to the GOP for 2004. This was a chance for the GOP to politically assassinate Davis using lies and corporate money taken from gouging consumers. Bush-Cheney always supported the gouging effort. They never lifted a finger to stop it and told the same lies in the Enron ads, that it was all "market forces" and "because democrats have no energy policy". Same exact dishonest partisan spin. A huge-huge crime.
