When someone is dead their reports of things that happened before they where dead are still evidence. Generally better evidence than statements made by someone thousands of miles away.

The only direct report from the post seems to indicate that Hezbollah was using this position as a firing point and thus was intentionally using the UN observers as human shields. I don't know why the UN wouldn't leave the post under those circumstances. Perhaps Hezbollah prevented them from moving, or maybe they just thought moving was no safer then sitting still because Hezbollah could move with them and continue to fire rockets from wherever the observers moved to.
