I feel no such thing, and in fact, I am counting on it, So you are going to buy off religious zealots from killing you because you do not believe and worshop allah with some shiny metal - spock would say that is illogical. When the roman soldier or egyptian slave driver walked up to the general chens of the past and demanded for their resources as you say you are "counting on" and he said hold up - i have shiny metal - you will TRADE me what I want for some of it - I imagine that general chen got his head lopped off and whatever that general chen had - the roman soldier - egyptian slave driver just TOOK. Think of a spanish conquistador - he walks up to you in your nice aztec temple and says GIVE ME SOME GOLD and feed me some fresh fruit - and you say give me some spanish steel in trade and he complies and thrusts some spanish steel into your heart and takes your women and gold and cattle and fruit and laughs at you while you die bleeding. What is your backup plan if gold turns out not to be the hopeful token of trade you are counting on in a world filled with death, evil, corruption, robbery, murder and chaos?
