The work being done on Advance-IMS by Verizon and its partners is actually intended to hasten IMS. I am not sure of the why and the wherefore, but it appears that running a non-secure IMS system allows non-VoIP to continue to live almost indefinitely, something any carrier with a brand new IMS network will certainly try to avoid. A-IMS as I appreciate it cures this problem by providing the requisite security.

I would imagine that Sonus, as a premier provider of IMS, is involved in the issue. In any event, since A-IMS hastens IMS and presumably cures the problem of indefinite extensions of non-VoIP, it would seem that A-IMS is a very good thing for Sonus as it appears to broaden the scope of Sonus's market.

I think the disappointing thing about the announcement is that SONS appears not to be involved in A-IMS.

This is my understanding of a relatively technical matter, so please use the salt shaker as much as you deem appropriate.
