<<I once read this book "the millionaire next door" which is really kind of a silly book. Anyway he had interviewed many spenders over the years and their primary reason for spending and not saving seemed to be that they had lost so much trying to invest>>

Whoa, waitjustadoggoneminit........that doesn't sound anything like the same book by the same title that I read and have on my bookshelf. Spenders were not the subject of the book. Savers were the subject. And I don't recall many of them losing money by "investing". Most of them made money by investing in themselves and their own companies, not the stock market.

Please clarify what you mean by your post about this particular book, which is quite well known and a best-seller in its time.
