I think Lieberman has a good chance of winning too. He won almost half of the Democrats who voted in the primary. He has I think a better chance than Lamont of picking up Republican and independent votes.

From a standpoint of controlling the Senate (and control of Congress is what the political game is about right now), for Lamont to win in November would mean no net gain for the Democrats.

If Lieberman wins in November, the Democrats lose a seat.

The Republicans have nothing to lose as there aren't enough Republicans in the state to win so either Lieberman or Lamont are the only realistic possibilities.

As I see it, the Democrats have exchanged a safe Democrat Senate seat for a chance of losing a Senate seat.

Playing to win Congress and playing to enforce party loyalty and exact revenge are two different things.
