When the Red Army placed Budapest under a siege those who had gold ate; those who didn't went hungry.

I would counter those that had a store of MRE's or an orange grove in the backyard or moonshine like my grandpa ate - and when the gold hoarders come to trade - they will be sent away. I just watched a special on Hannibal's siege of Rome - why did he leave? Did they give up all thier gold? He even set roman soldiers FREE that he could have killed or kept as slaves - why so nice?

During the next hyperinflation, following World War II, dentists refused to take paper money for professional services rendered. My mother paid for dental work needed by my sister in gold.

I wonder what all those women traded out who didn't have gold? Hmmm - I once saw the three stooges tie curlys mouth to a door to extract his bad tooth - worked just as well as a dentists pliers eh? If curly had been a woman - he might have some stinky hole to barter. Who knows - maybe he could have found a gay dentist and still had one to barter - hehe.

If things get so bad for me in Clearwater fl I have to pay a dentist in gold coins - I expect to have much more pressing personal issues. If I believed I was going to starve - I would much rather hoard MRE's - the new ones keep for 10 years - why hoard gold? I don't expect large numbers of people to starve in florida - lots of good ag land around - lots of cows and vegetables everywhere. Never snows If the land dries up - lots of ocean with fish and seaweed nearby - cant lose in Fl.
