I heard parts of the same poll on TV and also found it distressing, especially if some of those polled were second or third generation British citizens.

I question, however, the last sentence of your post. Professional pollsters typically present data, not commentary or opinions such as 'hardcore islamists who are unconcerned by trifles like freedom of speech.'

That sentence is inflammatory, it's propaganda, and it serves to undermine the validity of the data presented. In other words, it makes me suspicious as to the intent of the pollster and how the questions of the poll were worded. You can write the questions of the poll in such a way as to support a personal agenda.
