I'm not going to try to convince you of the value of gold, It is only VALUABLE to the point someone will give you something you REALLY DO NEED for it - at one time people would give you lots of cows and chickens and corn and water and medicine for tulips and sea shells and beads eh? Do you really believe if gold goes to 30K an ounce next month - the world financial system implodes - a nuke goes off over isreal and millions die and all the oil in the middle east is irradiated - no one anywhere you currently do business with will take a credit card or a paper bill or a check - that some gubbment type with guns and tanks and lawyers and city council and national guard etc etc is not going to step in and exert some "influence?" That you will be FREE to trade the gold you hoarded with a man who has some fresh pigs on his farm - that criminals, starving people, and gubbments will not seek to STOP you from getting the BACON all for yourself? That the farmer will even be WILLING to give you some BACON for a useless dust collector? Zimbabwe gubbment types exerting "influence" on the free market there eh? Just as was done in America in the depression. Lets take a more common occurrence - you are a good citizen - you have always followed the law - you are a good christian and always donate at your local church - bush shook hands with you at his last rally and kissed your baby - loantech got you into a house over your ability to pay - now taxes are due and mortgage payments are due - you are a good person - help everyone you can - but you dont want to live in the street with your baby - why is the GUBBMENT going to PUNISH YOU? How long does the sheriff let you stay in that house for FREE with city marhsalls wanting tax and bank officers wanting loan payments? A guy with a gun ultimately shows up and "influences" you out of the house eh? hehe People think GOLD will save them in a crisis from thugs with guns - bogart had a lot of gold on his donkeys - but those mexicans took what they wanted and they didn't need no stinking badges to do it - hehe. Instead of hoarding gold to stop a tank from killing you or "influencing" you out of your house - better to get the people in that tank to never get so violent to begin with eh or get into a situation of such CHAOS that you HOPE a farmer will give you some bacon FOR IT. I just read that paragraph and pictured the tank and the palestinian kid and thought of you. Great, at least some people at some point at some places in the past had nice enough people around them to trade them some real consumables for a shiny metal token - I don't see buying off starving masses with shiny metal tokens in my area today though. As I have said before - I have an indian friend who is a pretty cruel bastard at times - and I could just see some jew off schindlers list trying to buy their way out of auschwitz with a gold watch - he would just stick a knife in that person and take the watch. Your starving friend who had the gold watch in Russia - he would do the same - you are HOPING that GOLD will BUY OFF a thug like my indian friend - I don't see it. They may try to confiscate the gold, but folks get crafty when the revnooers come by. I live in clearwater fl - it is going to be very hard to go to the stores and the restaurants and buy things with gold and it not be tracked - I can go to my neighbor and trade out a Vangelis CD for a Prodigy CD - but I really don't think there is gonna be a lot of trade in GOLD for anyone if things get as chaotic as some predict. We live in a society where men with guns come make you DO THINGS if you don't follow the law - yet here General Chen is with some shiny metal tokens thinking he is going to tell THEM guys with GUNS what to do - how silly.
