You sound like someone who not only will never see a personal net worth exceeding $1M, but who doesn't know anyone personally with $1M.

May I suggest you read "The Millionaire Next Door." Brinker used to recommend it. It will surprise you and perhaps give you hints on how you can change your bad habits into what it takes to reach critical mass early in life.

We clip coupons, shop at Costco for the great deals (CostCo has good quality), buy the "Entertainment Book" for the 2 for 1 meals, etc. We seem to do it for the pleasure of saving money or getting something free as opposed to actual need.

Think about it. If you are being forced to watch commercials between plays while watching the 49ers win last night, why not go through a folder of emails and read those ads and get paid rather than watch the ads on TV for nothing? You can save several weeks worth of emails in a special folder they are deleted to and read them when you want to.

If you were not so critical of others, you might actually learn something useful inspite of yourself.
