I was defining American soil more literally, since the words the admin have used were something like- "fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here."

There still lies the question of causality v correlation, but
I'm sorry that list doesn't continue after 2002 since it would be interesting to see how or if the numbers change.

What was interesting to me is that the report was stopped in 2004 because "the report was no longer published to the public after its methodology was challenged by the administration, amid claims that it showed the highest amount of terror activity in its nineteen year history. A new report was created, called the Country Reports on Terrorism (which can be read here), which detailed terrorism by region but offered no statistics or chronology."

Curious about, that I found an article on it, fwiw. Given the source, I think you will find it biased, but it does raise some questions.

Frankly, it doesn't strike me as terribly meaningful either way because of the inability to show causality. Terrorism continues, attacks against us and our allies continue. I don't find the world a safer place. But it was an interesting little sidepath.
