I think that clarifies some of the confusion in the discussion this weekend. If you cut off the more extreme end of the antiwar people- the Cindy Sheehans-, you might gradually work your way to those who see the police action arm as the most effective way to go, state action being something undertaken with a great deal more caution, and a belief that it should have remained more focused on Al Qaeda and Afghanistan. We may never agree on the choice of Iraq as a battlefield, but it is helpful to see how it is viewed by the proponents.
I was at the library this afternoon and took the time to reread the final chapter of Sharon Mackey's The Reckoning, wondering if I would find it as strikingly prophetic as I did in 2002. I did.
