Tell that to Mercury Interactive!

Delisted from nasdaq for backdating options activity exactly like apple's - except on a much smaller scale!

As one of the first companies to acknowledge its stock option woes, Mercury is among first to begin quantify the cost of its indiscretions. The company still may trim its profits even further later this year when it restates its results for the final nine months of 2005.

The list of other high-tech companies that expect to shear their past profits because of stock option backdating include Cnet Networks Inc., Rambus Inc. and McAfee Inc.

Mercury's housecleaning began with the ouster of its CEO, Amnon Landan, and two other executives late last year.

The debacle depressed Mercury's stock price and resulted in the company's de-listing from the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. The Securities and Exchange Commission also is investigating Mercury and already has indicated it may take action against at least three of its directors.
