I DO criticize the force and damage that Israel has done to Lebanon.

I think Israel thought that Hezbollah was some sort of unified force that had to be cut off and trapped. That's why they blew bridges and cut off access to S. Lebanon. That's also why they hit so many targets on the Syrian border.

Israel has the same sort of shortsighted thinking that the Bush administartion has always had. It's displayed most garishly in that deck of cards that Bush kept of the "top" people in Al Queda. As if Al Queda was an organization rather than an ideology.

Israel should have given warning and opportunity for the people of S. Lebanon to get out before they did anything. THEN they should have gone in with EVERYTHING and cleared the area of Hezbollah and rocket launchers and any other threats.
They wouldn't have caused so many civilian casualties and they could still DEMAND a UN presence.
